Ward's Announces Auto Interior of the Year Awards For 2010

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Ward's Auto Interior of the Year Awards, North America's only honors for excellence in automotive interiors, have been announced for 2010. The list features winners in pricing and vehicle type categories, as well as special award winners for design, versatility and brand expression.

"For years, the focus on safety and functionality has given us drab, uninspired vehicle interiors," said Ward's AutoWorldEditor-in-Chief Drew Winter. "This year's winners show style and original design is becoming as important inside the vehicle as it already is to the sheet metal outside."

A team of eight Ward's editors evaluated 40 vehicles that have either all-new or significantly upgraded interiors this year. The vehicles – both car and truck – were divided into segments, with one winner named in each category. In addition, Ward's bestowed special awards for outstanding achievements in key areas. Having both designations allowed judges to rank vehicles against the entire field, regardless of segment and price. Judging criteria included aesthetics and design harmony, comfort, driver information, ergonomics, fit and finish, materials, safety and overall value.

Gas Savings Tips from Grubbs Infiniti

Maintenance Tips to Help You Save Gas

You can save money and energy, and wear and tear on your vehicle, with proper care and maintenance. Here are the items that most affect fuel economy. Plus, included are 6 money saving driving tips.

• Motor Oil- Top off and change oil as necessary with manufacturer-recommended grade, "energy conserving" motor oils. Doing so can improve fuel economy by up to 2%. Replacing conventional oils with synthetics may offer even greater fuel economy benefits.
• Air Filter- Make sure you change your air filter at the end of its recommended lifespan. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve a vehicle's gas mileage by up to 10%.
• Engine Performance- Enhance fuel economy performance by having engines tuned and spark plugs replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. A single misfiring spark plug can cut fuel economy by up to 4%.
• Brakes- Improperly maintained brakes can result in unwanted drag. This unnecessary resistance can have the same effect as driving with a foot on the brake pedal: A dramatic drop in fuel economy.
• Warning Lights- Ignoring lights such as "Service Engine Soon" or "Check Engine" may result in poor fuel economy performance and require expensive repairs. Fuel economy could be compromised up to 40%.
• Tire Wear- Replacing worn tires with a manufacturer recommended size and style can save hundreds of dollars per year. To improve fuel economy performance, consider low rolling-resistance replacement tires.
• Tire Inflation- Keeping tires inflated to at least the manufacturer recommended pressure can improve fuel economy by up to 3%. Under inflated tires require more energy to roll, meaning more fill-ups.
• Unnecessary Items in Trunk- Unnecessary weight lowers fuel economy; remove heavy items from your trunk and back seat.
• Evaporative Emission Controls- Poorly operating evaporative emissions controls can fail to capture gasoline vapors and recycle them to the fuel tank. Faulty controls waste gas and degrade air quality.
• Transmission- Properly operating modern transmissions and drive components are critical to vehicle fuel economy performance. Routinely check proper fluid levels and system operation.

All values are according to the U.S. EPA.

6 Green Driving Tips

1. Avoid quick starts and aggressive driving- A smooth, steady speed saves gasoline and reduces wear and tear on the engine, tires, transmission and brakes
2. Slow down- Fuel economy decreases about 1% for each mph over 55. Driving 65 mph vs. 75 mph, for example, increases fuel economy by about 10%.
3. Use overdrive and cruise control- Overdrive gears slows engine speeds, saving gasoline and reducing wear. By helping to maintain a constant speed, cruise control reduces gasoline consumption.
4. Combine trips when possible- Your engine runs more efficiently once it's warmed up, so avoid making multiple short trips. Stop and go driving also burns more gasoline. Avoid driving during rush hour whenever you can.
5. Reduce drag- Remove roof racks and other items from your vehicle when you're not using them.
6. Avoid unnecessary idling- In addition to contributing to engine wear and tear and air pollution, consider that when your vehicle is idling, you are getting 0 miles per gallon.

Just the other day I had a friend post on Facebook that they can't figure out how to post replies to their friends on Facebook and they keep posting on their own wall instead of their friends. If you think of all of the technology that exists now a days with cell phones, iPods (now iPads as well), WiFi and other devices it's sometimes challenging to understand how it all works. We don't have all the answers but we want to try and point you in the right direction or maybe give you that one pointer or trick that enables you to get the most out of your Infiniti vehicle.

These are our first videos and we plan for them to get more sophisticated over time.

Bluetooth Phone and Bluetooth Audio Setup

One of the nicest things about the new Infiniti models is that most (check with your salesman for specific packages) come with some nice tech features such as Bluetooth "phone" and Bluetooth "audio".

What's the difference between "Bluetooth "Phone" and Bluetooth "Audio"? The difference is that with Bluetooth "Audio" you can listen to your Bluetooth enabled MP3 player (like an iPhone) wirelessly through your vehicles audio system.

I thought it was cool when I first got my Jeep Commander that it had an "AUX" jack for me to plug a cable into my iPod so I could listen through my car audio. This Bluetooth "Audio" integration is sure cool though.

I took a few minutes to try the pairing out for myself. Check out the videos for "How to Pair Your Bluetooth Phone" and "How to Pair Your Bluetooth Audio".

Please keep in mind our production costs are very low and Steven Spielberg wasn't available. But we do hope that these "How To" Videos help you with getting the most out of your Infiniti's Technical Features.

2011 Infiniti QX56 Official Pricing

2011 Infiniti QX Debut Live on Facebook

The new 2011 Infiniti QX will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show on Wednesday, March 31st and the Internet has been buzzing with pictures, blog posts and lots of excitement for the big announcement. The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is taking a new path and being built on the Nissan Patrol platforms versus Nissan Armada platform that it previously was built upon. The QX56 still have considerable power and has room for 8. Powering the new QX is a 5.6-liter, 400-hp V8--an increase of 80 hp over the 2010 QX. A seven-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous five-speed unit. According to Infiniti, fuel economy increases by more than 10 percent in the new model.

Fueling the buzz about the 2011 Infiniti QX launch is that Infiniti is going to be showing the debut from the New York Auto Show live on the Infiniti Facebook page. This is just one of the live events that I have personally heard about taking place on Facebook this week. The other is a non automotive event but none the less it's very interesting to see Facebook getting involved with live event coverage.

Men vs Women Drivers

Last night on NBC5 in DFW you might have watched the segment on NBC5 News at 10pm that took a look at driving habits of men and women and specifically married couples. Meredith Land, the anchor of the



NBC5 10pm slot, came out and interviewed me and my wife, Adrian, and put us through a little driving challenge.

We had a driving instructor with us in the passenger seat who gave us instructions on what to do.

First up was parallel parking and I thought that's where Adrian would beat me. Admittedly I am terrible at parallel parking. However, I won that contest. It only took me two tries to get into the spot and my wife three tries. Also, she creamed the curb while I don't think I came close. Anyway, I do think she is better at parking so I was surprised about those results.

Reality TV - It's All About Editing
After the parking contest we took a drive around the block, with the instructor in the passenger seat, and he directed us on where to turn. Here is where it gets interesting. At the stop sign that I supposedly "rolled through" or "ran" I slowed down and since I couldn't see the traffic in both directions and I stopped a few feet past the white line next to the stop sign. So yes, I did pass the stop sign without stopping. But I did stop just a few feet past the sign where I could see the traffic from my right and left. I guess the correct thing to do would have been to stop at where the white line / stop sign was and then slowly move out (or stop again) after looking both ways for other cars. I have heard that called a "California stop" or "California Roll". Well, I was born in California.

The rest of the test I will say I did go a little too fast on the corners and turned into the middle lane (twice). But that's the way guys drive, right?

I found the statistics used in the segment were true to me and my wife's driving history. I have had more speeding tickets and one expensive crash while moving and she has had a number of inexpensive fender benders, dent and dings from slow speed (single car) type accidents. Like the time she backed into my car coming out of our own driveway.

So yes, I lost the battle in this particular instance, but the war of who is a better driver - Men or Women will continue on.

It's not what you think. Really. Tonight (March 25th) my wife and I will be on NBC5's 10pm news on a segment promoting the Marriage Ref . The Marriage Ref airs on Thursday nights on NBC at 9pm CST.

The segment on NBC5 this week is taking a look at driving habits of men and women and specifically married couples. Here are a few episodes you can watch in case you have missed it.

Jerry Seinfeld is back and in the producer's chair for a funny and revealing comedy panel series about the unpredictable and hilarious institution commonly known as marriage. Seinfeld describes it as "a comedy about situations in reality."

The iconic NBC sitcom "Seinfeld" was the title star's exploration of the single life. In "The Marriage Ref," Seinfeld's new primetime venture, married life takes center stage as disputes between real-life couples are revealed, examined -- and ultimately judged. For the first time, audiences will be able to look at these fights, analyze them and declare a winner.

These marital tiffs will run the gamut of disagreements -- quirky, funny, relatable -- all with the signature Seinfeld tone. "After 10 years of marriage, I realized the comedic potential of this topic is quite rich. This is the way marriage should be; everybody needs a ref," said Seinfeld. "I wanted to bring the sports simplicity to your complicated, endlessly difficult personal life."

At the center of the action and making "the call," is popular comedian Tom Papa ("The Informant!" "The New Adventures of Old Christine"). Papa will serve as the actual Marriage Ref and will have the final say in determining the victor of each spat. Papa was personally chosen by Seinfeld for this role. For the past eight years, Papa has been on tour with Seinfeld.

The couples that present their problems will be given a call by the Ref, just like in sports. Wife is right, husband is wrong. Wife wins the prize. Advising and influencing the Ref's decision will be a rotating panel of "experts" comprised of top celebrities, comedians and sports stars who will weigh in and offer their own wit, wisdom and unique opinions.

"The Marriage Ref" is produced by Seinfeld's Columbus 81 Productions. Seinfeld, Ellen Rakieten ("The Oprah Winfrey Show"), Shed Media's Nick Emmerson ("Supernanny," "The Real Housewives of New York City") and Jennifer O'Connell ("The Real Housewives of New York City," "It's Me or the Dog") and Al Berman ("The Biggest Loser Live Finale," "The Celebrity Apprentice Live Finale") serve as executive producers. Digital Dealer Conference - Numa Numa vs The Evolution of Dance

At Grubbs Infiniti we are trying to focus more on digital advertising and marketing vs the traditional (and more expensive) means of print, television and radio. Even though we don't like our customers to be waiting around the dealership for too long when they are are here we want them to be as comfortable as they can be. This is why we are in the process of remodeling our customer lounge area (I won't call it a "waiting area" because personally I hate to wait.



We already have Starbuck's coffee and WiFi... but will be adding a nice LCD TV for you to watch while you enjoy your time with us (see.. I didn't say "wait").

One of our initiatives this year to improve overall customer satisfaction is to implement a social media presence for Grubbs Infiniti. As part of the Euless business community Grubbs Infiniti believes that it's important for local businesses to give something back to the community they operate their businesses in. One of our little ways to give back is to invite the Euless Police and Fire Departments to join us on the third Friday of each month at Grubbs Infiniti for our employee cook out.
