Infiniti's future is the M

"Infiniti's future is the M" Hmmm.. as I review this blog entry I wonder if the title of this blog should be "Infiniti's Future is the M?" Over the past few weeks the Internet has been a buzz regarding the New 2011 Infiniti M and questions regarding the Infiniti Q line of cars. If the bloggers are correct and the signs are that they are the M series is the future of Infiniti and the Q line will no longer be included in the Infiniti line up of vehicles. The Q hasn't been produced for a few years so it's probably time to consider the Q no longer part of the future lineup of Infinitis.

Of course I don't have any inside information since I work at a dealership and not directly for the manufacturer. However, the bloggers are making sense and after seeing the latest ad from Infiniti for the 2011 M (the commercial debuts before tip-off of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow) I can understand why the writing on the wall might be true. Also, with the successful G series and M series there might not be room for the Q line which might have seen it's last car roll off the production line.

But again, we are Grubbs Infiniti don't know what the grand plan is for the Infiniti Q any more than the bloggers do. Well, at least I don't.

Inspired by March Madness at Grubbs Infiniti

The NCAA Division I Tournament starts this week and Infiniti, the official vehicle of the NCAA Tournament, will take center stage (or is it half court) during the next few weeks of March Madness.

Infiniti has launched an integrated media campaign centered around the NCAA Division I Tournament in addition to the SEC (South Eastern Conference) and Big 10 Conferences. The first phase was launched in January to promote Infiniti's G line of vehicles. This next chapter focuses on Infiniti's flagship M line, the new model of which goes on sale this month. But both campaigns are also an effort to reposition the brand.

At Grubbs Infiniti we have been "inspired" by the marketing campaign and partnership developed between Infiniti and the NCAA. At Grubbs Infiniti we have been working to integrate the components of the National Infiniti campaign with our local efforts and have enjoyed doing so.

Facebook
On Facebook we have developed a custom tab that highlights Infiniti's sponsorship of the "Bracket Challenge" and the opportunity for a lucky winner to win a 2011 Infiniti M.

We are also going to be posting information about our local teams that are in the tournament such as the University of North Texas "Mean Green" and our regional teams such as the University of Texas "Longhorns". Other Texas teams will no doubt make it into the tournament and we will find out on "Selection Sunday" when the brackets are set.

Infiniti Encouraging Dealer Participation
Infiniti is encouraging the employees of dealerships nationwide to participate in the Bracket Challenge and has set up an internal contest that each dealership can play. I was disappointed to learn that I can't win the 2011 Infiniti M but at least I can beat my co-workers .

At Grubbs Infiniti we had our monthly meeting a few days ago where the "Bracket Challenge" was announced and the announcement was greeted with some good smack talking and predictions on who is going to have the best bracket.

We will let you know how our brackets are going. Hope you play along with the Infiniti Bracket Challenge.

Grubbs Infiniti at the Ft. Worth Auto Show

Grubbs Infiniti will be showcasing the 2011 Infiniti M at the Ft. Worth Auto Show which runs March 11 - March 14th.

The 2011 Infiniti M is the first of many of the M line to be styled based on the Infiniti Essence Concept car that turned heads at the Chicago and Geneva Auto Shows earlier this year. Here is an excerpt from one of the recent reviews from Auto Blog.

Autoblog.com
“From the outside, there’s little question Infiniti has stepped up the M’s game in a major way. Drawing swoopy inspiration from the Essence concept, the new M is lower, wider and just a smidgen longer. Infiniti hammered home the point that the new car is the first Infiniti product to sport Essence-derived lines, but by no means will it be the last. They showed us a few pictures of the new QX56, and while we sadly can’t share them with you, please take our word for it that the new QX is world’s better looking than the frankly obscene old version.”

UNT Going to the NCAA Tournament

The 72nd Annual NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament starts next week and we at Grubbs Infiniti wanted to congratulate the University of North Texas on their winning of the Sun Belt Conference Championship.  This win over Troy (66 - 63) in the Sun Belt title game gave UNT an automatic birth in the 65 team NCAA Division I Tournament.

North Texas (24-8) has won 11 straight and is heading into the NCAA Tournament with a head of steam. We won't know the final brackets until "Selection Sunday" on March 14th when the final teams are selected and brackets are set but we wish UNT the best and hope they go far!

Infiniti M35 Hybrid - Geneva Auto Show

The Infiniti M35 Hybrid is getting a lot of attention at the Geneva AutoShow taking place this week in Switzerland. The M35 is the first hybrid from Infiniti and is being touted by the automotive community as one of the first performance hybrids. The Infiniti M35 was rigorously tested in the United States while being readied to take on the it's European competitors, the BMW 5 series and the Mercedes Benz E class.

The reviews from the Geneva AutoShow so far have been very favorable of the Infiniti M35 Hybrid and we at Grubbs Infiniti have been keeping track of what's being said and are very excited for the M35 Hybrid to come to our showroom sometime in 2011.

MotorAuthority
2010 Geneva Motor Show: 2012 Infiniti M35 Hybrid

"Nissan and its Infiniti luxury division may have been late to the table when it comes to hybrids but neither brand is shying away from launching a new generation of gasoline-electric vehicles. Infiniti has fired the latest round in the battle for hybrid supremacy with the unveiling of a new hybrid version of its 2011 M sedan at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show."

"Officially titled the Infiniti M35 Hybrid, the new sedan is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2011, which means it will most likely come in as a 2012 model."

The Driver's Hybrid: Low Co2 Infiniti With the Power to Please

"Innovative electric technology and an undiluted driving experience come together in Infiniti’s first hybrid, making its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show today. The low CO2 champion of the all-new M Line sedan range, the Infiniti M35 HYBRID steers the hybrid advantage from the city to the open road – and into the arms of all those who love their driving."

"Just how efficient the M35 HYBRID’s electric side is was shown in a rigorous test program in the US based on day-in, day-out driving over a three-month period on a route that took in not just busy city streets but also suburbs, freeways and even mountain roads. The results showed that the M35 HYBRID was able to drive in electric-only mode, with zero tailpipe emissions, for as much as 50 per cent of the time."

Infiniti's first hybrid at Geneva 2010
"For Infiniti the possibilities are endless! After teasing us with the Essence concept at last year’s Geneva show, the up-and-coming luxury arm of Nissan has revealed a petrol-electric version of its BMW 5-Series rival – the M35 Hybrid."

"A powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine, coupled to a 67bhp electric motor with 270Nm built into the 7-speed automatic transmission all add up to a luxury car that should be both fast and frugal."

"There are no performance figures yet, but expect equivalent performance to a V8-powered 5-Series. And Infiniti has confirmed that it will go on sale early next year."

Brackets
It's become a company wide tradition at many companies to have a "March Madness Pool" or some type of inner company competition. Whether it's sanctioned by the company or under the table even those that have no interest in basketball get consumed by filling out their brackets and seeing how they do versus their friends and co-workers.

Grand Prize - 2011 Infiniti M
This year the Grand Prize in the CBS Sports Bracket contest will be a 2011 Infiniti M valued at approximately $58,000. The winner will be randomly chosen from someone whose bracket is in the top 10% of all the brackets. So the odds of winning are dictated by the number of brackets that are filled out and your ability to pick the right teams.
