2011 Infiniti QX56 Official Pricing

FRANKLIN, Tenn., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with the world debut of the all-new 2011 Infiniti QX Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle at a press conference at the New York International Auto Show today, Infiniti has announced pricing for the vehicle – which remains unchanged from the 2010 models. The 2011 QX is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in early summer 2010.

Prices for the 2011 Infiniti QX start at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)* of $56,700 USD for the QX56 2WD and $59,800 USD for the QX56 4WD. These prices are the same as the previous generation QX, despite added content and features including:

• A new 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine with Infiniti's VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) and Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) technologies -- producing 25% more power and more than a 10% increase in fuel efficiency versus the previous design
• A new standard 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching (replaces the previous 5-speed automatic)
• Standard Around View™ Monitor, upgraded Bose® Premium Audio System and Automatic Temperature Control System

Other standard equipment includes 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, power sliding moonroof, power rear liftgate, leather-appointed seating, power folding and reclining 3rd row seats, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather™ with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and Zagat Survey® Restaurant Guide.

In addition, the new QX offers an array of available advanced technology, including a new Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, a Theater Package with dual 7-inch monitors, Advanced Climate Control System, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) and new Blind Spot Warning (BSW).

2011 QX56 at New York Auto Show

Over the past few days there has been some great buzz surrounding the new 2011 Infiniti QX56 that is debuting at the New York Auto Show this week. Some of the buzz can certainly be attributed to how well Infiniti kept photos and details of the QX56 secret over the past few months. Spy shots were about the only photos that were available and it became obvious that the lack of photos of the new QX56 helped to drive the buzz surrounding the launch.



Infiniti, who earlier this month announced they were launching a customer magazine on the iPad, went hi tech again for the launch of the QX56 and had a live video feed from their Facebook Fan Page. It's great to see how Infiniti is embracing social media and technology and integrating these new technologies into their advertising and marketing.

2011 Infiniti QX Debut Live on Facebook

The new 2011 Infiniti QX will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show on Wednesday, March 31st and the Internet has been buzzing with pictures, blog posts and lots of excitement for the big announcement. The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is taking a new path and being built on the Nissan Patrol platforms versus Nissan Armada platform that it previously was built upon. The QX56 still have considerable power and has room for 8. Powering the new QX is a 5.6-liter, 400-hp V8--an increase of 80 hp over the 2010 QX. A seven-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous five-speed unit. According to Infiniti, fuel economy increases by more than 10 percent in the new model.

Fueling the buzz about the 2011 Infiniti QX launch is that Infiniti is going to be showing the debut from the New York Auto Show live on the Infiniti Facebook page. This is just one of the live events that I have personally heard about taking place on Facebook this week. The other is a non automotive event but none the less it's very interesting to see Facebook getting involved with live event coverage.

Grubbs Infiniti - Tech Corner | Blue Tooth Audio Streaming

Just the other day I had a friend post on Facebook that they can't figure out how to post replies to their friends on Facebook and they keep posting on their own wall instead of their friends. If you think of all of the technology that exists now a days with cell phones, iPods (now iPads as well), WiFi and other devices it's sometimes challenging to understand how it all works. We don't have all the answers but we want to try and point you in the right direction or maybe give you that one pointer or trick that enables you to get the most out of your Infiniti vehicle.

These are our first videos and we plan for them to get more sophisticated over time.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming Setup

One of the nicest things about the new Infiniti models is that most (check with your salesman for specific packages) come with some nice tech features such as Bluetooth "phone" and Bluetooth "audio streaming".

What's the difference between "Bluetooth "Phone" and Bluetooth "Audio Streaming"? The difference is that with Bluetooth "Audio" you can listen to your Bluetooth enabled MP3 player (like an iPhone) wirelessly through your vehicles audio system.

I thought it was cool when I first got my Jeep Commander that it had an "AUX" jack for me to plug a cable into my iPod so I could listen through my car audio. This Bluetooth "Audio Streaming" integration is sure cool though. The Bluetooth Audio Streaming should work with not just your iPhone's iPod but once connected you can also stream other music services such as Pandora, Yahoo Music and others. The main thing to do is get the audio streaming set up and then whatever music source you want to play through your car audio you can do that.

I took a few minutes to try the pairing out for myself. Check out the videos for "How to Pair Your Bluetooth Phone" and "How to Pair Your Bluetooth Audio".

Please keep in mind our production costs are very low and Steven Spielberg wasn't available. But we do hope that these "How To" Videos help you with getting the most out of your Infiniti's Technical Features.

Men vs Women Drivers

Last night on NBC5 in DFW you might have watched the segment on NBC5 News at 10pm that took a look at driving habits of men and women and specifically married couples. Meredith Land, the anchor of the



NBC5 10pm slot, came out and interviewed me and my wife, Adrian, and put us through a little driving challenge.

We had a driving instructor with us in the passenger seat who gave us instructions on what to do.

First up was parallel parking and I thought that's where Adrian would beat me. Admittedly I am terrible at parallel parking. However, I won that contest. It only took me two tries to get into the spot and my wife three tries. Also, she creamed the curb while I don't think I came close. Anyway, I do think she is better at parking so I was surprised about those results.

Reality TV - It's All About Editing
After the parking contest we took a drive around the block, with the instructor in the passenger seat, and he directed us on where to turn. Here is where it gets interesting. At the stop sign that I supposedly "rolled through" or "ran" I slowed down and since I couldn't see the traffic in both directions and I stopped a few feet past the white line next to the stop sign. So yes, I did pass the stop sign without stopping. But I did stop just a few feet past the sign where I could see the traffic from my right and left. I guess the correct thing to do would have been to stop at where the white line / stop sign was and then slowly move out (or stop again) after looking both ways for other cars. I have heard that called a "California stop" or "California Roll". Well, I was born in California.

The rest of the test I will say I did go a little too fast on the corners and turned into the middle lane (twice). But that's the way guys drive, right?

I found the statistics used in the segment were true to me and my wife's driving history. I have had more speeding tickets and one expensive crash while moving and she has had a number of inexpensive fender benders, dent and dings from slow speed (single car) type accidents. Like the time she backed into my car coming out of our own driveway.

So yes, I lost the battle in this particular instance, but the war of who is a better driver - Men or Women will continue on.

It's not what you think. Really. Tonight (March 25th) my wife and I will be on NBC5's 10pm news on a segment promoting the Marriage Ref . The Marriage Ref airs on Thursday nights on NBC at 9pm CST.

Here are a few episodes you can watch in case you have missed it.

Jerry Seinfeld is back and in the producer's chair for a funny and revealing comedy panel series about the unpredictable and hilarious institution commonly known as marriage. Seinfeld describes it as "a comedy about situations in reality."

The iconic NBC sitcom "Seinfeld" was the title star's exploration of the single life. In "The Marriage Ref," Seinfeld's new primetime venture, married life takes center stage as disputes between real-life couples are revealed, examined -- and ultimately judged. For the first time, audiences will be able to look at these fights, analyze them and declare a winner.

These marital tiffs will run the gamut of disagreements -- quirky, funny, relatable -- all with the signature Seinfeld tone. "After 10 years of marriage, I realized the comedic potential of this topic is quite rich. This is the way marriage should be; everybody needs a ref," said Seinfeld. "I wanted to bring the sports simplicity to your complicated, endlessly difficult personal life."

At the center of the action and making "the call," is popular comedian Tom Papa ("The Informant!" "The New Adventures of Old Christine"). Papa will serve as the actual Marriage Ref and will have the final say in determining the victor of each spat. Papa was personally chosen by Seinfeld for this role. For the past eight years, Papa has been on tour with Seinfeld.

The couples that present their problems will be given a call by the Ref, just like in sports. Wife is right, husband is wrong. Wife wins the prize. Advising and influencing the Ref's decision will be a rotating panel of "experts" comprised of top celebrities, comedians and sports stars who will weigh in and offer their own wit, wisdom and unique opinions.

"The Marriage Ref" is produced by Seinfeld's Columbus 81 Productions. Seinfeld, Ellen Rakieten ("The Oprah Winfrey Show"), Shed Media's Nick Emmerson ("Supernanny," "The Real Housewives of New York City") and Jennifer O'Connell ("The Real Housewives of New York City," "It's Me or the Dog") and Al Berman ("The Biggest Loser Live Finale," "The Celebrity Apprentice Live Finale") serve as executive producers. International distribution is by Endemol.

Digital Dealer Conference - Numa Numa vs The Evolution of Dance

At Grubbs Infiniti we are trying to focus more on digital advertising and marketing vs the traditional (and more expensive) means of print, television and radio. Expect the Best from Infiniti

If the power and design shown by Infiniti's 592hp Essence Hybrid is any indicator, the power of Infiniti's first production electric car will surely be best in class. Details are starting to leak out about what Infiniti's first electric car will look like. It is rumored to be based upon a Nissan Leaf platform but will no doubt have a look more in line with the 2011 Infiniti M and the Essence Concept car. Infiniti’s electric-car will use Nissan Leaf platform, will have better performance

At the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show last year, President and CEO of Nissan Motors Co. Ltd., announced that Infiniti plans to introduce an electric vehicle. He said that the new electric-car will be true to the Infiniti brand’s promise of “Inspired Performance.”

According to recent reports, the Infiniti electric-vehicle will use the same platform as the new Nissan Leaf, but will have a totally different body. It will be the smallest Infiniti and will be much faster than the Nissan Leaf.

By now you’re probably thinking “much faster” means “shorter range.” Well, the Infiniti electric-car won’t be launched until 2014 and by that time Nissan is hoping to have its next-generation battery ready, which should hold enough charge with increased power.

“We’re not doing EVs [electric vehicles] for a limited number of people,” says Infiniti’s boss. “We want lots of buyers quickly, so we are making a family car. We have no intention to make a niche EV. Besides, big vehicles are too heavy for today’s batteries, which is why our car will be compact.”

Parental Leaf

With all the prominence in the news about the Nissan Leaf (pictured) these past few days, it's worth remembering Nissan has other ways of getting its money back on the electric-car project. There's a luxury version coming, under the Infiniti brand.

So much for the idea that tree-huggers all wear hair shirts. The electric Infiniti will no doubt be all very Hollywood.

It will use the same platform as the Leaf, but a different body. So it will be the smallest Infiniti. But all Infinitis are supposed to have high performance as well as being luxurious, so the motor power will be turned up compared with the Leaf's.

Normally this would result in a shorter range, but the Infiniti electric car won't be launched until 2014 or so, when Nissan is ready with its next generation of battery, which should hold enough charge to cope with the increased power.

This electrification strategy, of starting with a smallish hatch, is the opposite of what Audi is doing. Audi will start with a punishingly expensive two-seat electric supercar, the e-Tron.

We asked the boss of Infiniti why. "We're not doing EVs [electric vehicles] for a limited number of people. We want lots of buyers quickly, so we are making a family car. We have no intention to make a niche EV. Besides, big vehicles are too heavy for today's batteries, which is why our car will be compact."

Baylor Bears Advance to Sweet 16

The remaining Texas team in the NCAA Tournament is the Baylor Bears (came in as a 3 seed) and they are set to play St. Mary's on Friday in Houston, TX. The fact that Baylor is playing in their home state of Texas should give them a nice home court advantage with students and alumni traveling to the game.

At Grubbs Infiniti we have been "inspired" by the marketing campaign and partnership developed between Infiniti and the NCAA. At Grubbs Infiniti we have been working to integrate the components of the National Infiniti campaign with our local efforts and have enjoyed doing so.

Now that the selections have been made we are very excited and inspired by the inclusion of 7 Texas teams in the NCAA Tournament this year. Only Baylor made it to the Sweet 16 but that's no reason to stop cheering or checking your brackets if you are a Texan.

Infiniti Encouraging Dealer Participation
Infiniti is encouraging the employees of dealerships nationwide to participate in the Bracket Challenge and has set up an internal contest that each dealership can play. I was disappointed to learn that I can't win the 2011 Infiniti M but at least I can beat my co-workers .

At Grubbs Infiniti we had our monthly meeting a few days ago where the "Bracket Challenge" was announced and the announcement was greeted with some good smack talking and predictions on who is going to have the best bracket.

Update on Infiniti "Dallas" Bracket
Our own, George Grubbs III, is in 2nd place in the Infiniti Dallas NCAA bracket and I am WAY back in 19th place out of about 22. So not doing so well. I simply picked the lowest seeds for the entire tournament but with a few upsets that really killed my bracket.

Sexy Infiniti Photo Shoot

If you are a fan of Infinitis or an auto enthusiast you are going to enjoy this behind the scenes video of what goes into an auto photo shoot. The video provides some great details on how they capture such great images for use in brochures, television and more. The video is art itself and worth a look.



The models featured in the video are the Infiniti EX30D (that's the diesel version of the EX30 just released in Europe) and the Infiniti M35 Hybrid (also making it's debut in Europe).

From time to time we shoot video at Grubbs Infiniti but we can't come close to this type of work since we don't have a studio that's set up to specifically shoot vehicles. We do a great job with what we have but you can tell that this is a very high quality shoot. Enjoy the video.

Remodel of Customer Area
Even though we don't like our customers to be waiting around the dealership for too long when they are are here we want them to be as comfortable as they can be. This is why we are in the process of remodeling our customer lounge area (I won't call it a "waiting area" because personally I hate to wait.



We already have Starbuck's coffee and WiFi... but will be adding a nice LCD TV for you to watch while you enjoy your time with us (see.. I didn't say "wait").

Where are the Biscuits?

Recently we placed a to go order from Golden Chick and what happened? NO BISCUITS!!! Everyone was up in arms.. where are the biscuits? Where are the biscuits? We called them and they rushed over 2 orders of biscuits (we only ordered 1) and gave us a box of Golden Chick drinking mugs.. Wow.. that's customer service. We try to do the same here at Grubbs Infiniti. Customer Service is what we strive for.

The importance of good customer service and taking care of your customers has become more important than ever with the evolution of Twitter, Youtube and other social media sites. Your customers opinions really do matter and in 2010 they matter more than ever. Its' been sad that a satisfied customer shares their experience with 3 friends while a dissatisfied customer shares their opinion with a dozen. With Twitter, Facebook and Youtube you can take that number and multiple by a few hundred. Review services such as Yelp help patrol for bad customer service and helps to keep businesses on their toes.

We at Grubbs Infiniti are trying to do our best to make the auto buying (and servicing your auto) experience a pleasant experience.

Infiniti's future is the M

"Infiniti's future is the M" Hmmm.. as I review this blog entry I wonder if the title of this blog should be "Infiniti's Future is the M?" Over the past few weeks the Internet has been a buzz regarding the New 2011 Infiniti M and questions regarding the Infiniti Q line of cars. If the bloggers are correct and the signs are that they are the M series is the future of Infiniti and the Q line will no longer be included in the Infiniti line up of vehicles. The Q hasn't been produced for a few years so it's probably time to consider the Q no longer part of the future lineup of Infinitis.

Of course I don't have any inside information since I work at a dealership and not directly for the manufacturer. However, the bloggers are making sense and after seeing the latest ad from Infiniti for the 2011 M (the commercial debuts before tip-off of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow) I can understand why the writing on the wall might be true. Also, with the successful G series and M series there might not be room for the Q line which might have seen it's last car roll off the production line.

But again, we are Grubbs Infiniti don't know what the grand plan is for the Infiniti Q any more than the bloggers do. Well, at least I don't.

Infiniti TV - Great Tool

Since it's only been a few months since I started at Grubbs Infiniti (and truth be told I am currently driving a Jeep Commander) I have been trying to learn as much as I can about the Grubbs Infiniti dealership and the Infiniti brand. As I have been getting more familiarized with the products and features of the Infiniti line of vehicles one of the I have found the most useful is "Infiniti TV".

Infiniti TV offers some short videos on various topics such as: Brand, Featured, Models, TV spots and my favorite - Technology. I am not a techno geek by any means (well, maybe I am) but have become fascinated by how advanced some of the features in the new Infiniti models are. I thought my Jeep was cool because it had an external jack for my iPod.

Ford Flex versus Infiniti FX50 (Hearse vs Steroidal Creature from the Black Lagoon)

As the main author of the blogs that Grubbs Infiniti is authoring I read probably a dozen or so auto reviews per day. That can really take it's toll on your creative side considering most of the reviews look the same. Yes, the auto reviews with videos add some spice to the mix but for the most part it's a few images, features and pricing.

This lack of creativity in some of the auto reviews is why I was pleasantly surprised to find this review of the Infiniti FX50 versus Ford Flex from Edmunds.com in my Google Reader today. This is not a typical "comparable vehicle review" comparing two vehicles with similar characteristics but a review of two separate types of vehicles.

Usually, we here at Edmunds are tasked with comparing apples to apples. But once in a while it's fun to consider apples against pears. Or even funeral coaches against fish. That said, this face-off has real-world merit because we know some parents will be torn between getting something rather sporty versus something more practical. We also know that some practical people don't necessarily want to drive something that loudly proclaims: "I brake for PTA meetings and bake sales." So we bring you the racy but controversially-styled Infiniti FX50 and the more conservative and practical yet still cool Ford Flex.

The Flex looks like a hearse. Unless you're some goth kid who loves The Cure and hates his parents, hearses aren't cool. In fact, hearses are kind of a bummer, since they make you think of death, and death is sad. The FX50, on the other hand, looks like a steroidal sea creature from the Black Lagoon.

Well, Mr. Clarke, it's a good thing your FX50 is a little faster, because if we're taking our All-Star little leaguers and their friends to the game, you're going to have to make another trip to get junior's two friends you had to leave behind initially.

The FX50 seats 5. According to the most recent Census, the average American family consists of just 3.14 people. 3.14! The FX50 is big enough for 3.14, and maybe even a crabby mother-in-law or two. Mr. DiPietro, it's time for you to bury that tragic hearse and start living. Come over to the Cool Side - we've got candy.

Texas Laws Governing Texting and Cellphone Use While Driving

Today while driving to work at Grubbs Infiniti (yes, as the Social Media Manager I could easily work from home but prefer to office at the dealership so I stay connected to what's going on) I noticed a Clear Wireless billboard on Central Expressway that showed a lap top sitting on the dashboard of a person's car and showed a traffic camera on the screen. (I will get a picture of it tomorrow when I drive by it.. Yes, I will make sure to not be moving while I take the picture). My first impression was, that it's pretty cool to be tracking traffic live on your computer while driving. My second impression, after a cup of coffee, was that it's irresponsible to be even hinting at driving while using a lap top computer. That got me thinking about what the actual Texas laws are governing texting and hands free cell phone use.

The interesting thing about the laws that are in place is that you not only have to be tuned into what the Texas legislature passes as law (and signed by Governor Perry) but also what the municipalities around Texas have passed. Some municipalities have tried or have banned texting or using cellphones without a handsfree device all together. Dallas, Austin, Galveston and several smaller municipalities have banned use of drivers’ use of mobile phones without hands-free devices and text messaging in school zones. El Paso’s City Council voted March 9 to ban use of handheld cell phones and text messaging while driving in city limits. Hands-free cell phones OK. Fines up to $500. El Paso already has outlawed use of handheld cell phones in school zones.

Six states (Calif., Conn., N.J., N.Y., Ore. and Wash.), D.C. and the Virgin Islands already prohibit all drivers from using handheld cell phones while driving. While it's not inevitable that a handheld cell phone ban is in the works it might be time to take a look at purchasing a Bluetooth ear piece or upgrading your car with Bluetooth.

Navigation Screens a Distraction?
When I think about the Clear Wireless billboard with the laptop on the dashboard it also makes me think of how the onscreen navigation systems (whether, in dash or placed on your window) can be a possible distraction. Some navigation systems safeguard against use while moving and have a rolling lock out and you can't enter any information while moving at speeds more than 5mph. When using any device be it a handheld cell phone, handsfree cell phone or a navigation system it's important to make sure that you are operating your vehicle in a safe manner. The tragedies arising from texting while driving have been front and center in the news lately but you can point to any distraction while driving as a cause for concern.

I am sure that we have all seen someone eating or putting on makeup while driving and you just shook your head. Recently in Florida a women was involved in a crash because she was shaving her bikini line. (See Articles Below). Let's be responsible, buckle up and focus on driving. At Grubbs Infiniti we hope that driving an Infiniti is such a great experience that you want to focus 100% on the driving and not all the other stuff that you can do while driving.

Texas legislation news: Two new laws are in effect: one banning teen drivers from using cell phones and text messaging devices; the other prohibiting drivers from using handheld cell phones in school crossing zones.

Current prohibitions:
